Labas! There's a mistake. This article should be moved to kale (eu).

The reason is that "kalean" is the definite innesive grammatical case of the noun, hence kalean means "on the street" in English, "en la calle" in Spanish or "na ulicy" in Polish. Basque language is an inflected language, and the basic form is always given in the indefinite absolutive grammatical case, which in this case is as it follows: gatvė = kale.

Examples:

  • Zein da kale horren izena? - What's the name of that street?
  • Zein kaletan bizi zara? Agirre lendakariaren kalean. - What street do you live on? On President Agirre street.
  • Pertsona hau kalean bizi da. - This person lives on the street.
